A Group Decision Making Technique for Appraising the Performance of Organizations

The performance of an organization is usually appraised in terms of multiple criteria using a group of expert panels. However, when a decision is highly complex coupled with personal interests and emotional factors, a rational technique is necessary to extract the individual preferences objectively in order to optimize the decision outcomes. This article proposes a new evaluating technique for making group decisions efficiently and objectively. An application example appraising the performance of the industrial engineering department of all colleges in Taiwan is used to illustrate the applicability of the proposed method. Results indicate that the new approach is suitable for making decisions with multiple criteria.
